Counselor

Dear Parents and Students,

I want to welcome you all to a new year here at Kit Carson. I am Mrs. Stewart the counselor and I am looking forward to working with all of you throughout the year. This year we have much to learn and work on. Thank you all parents for your input and support regarding the issues your students face growing up. Thanks to this information I will be able to plan a comprehensive program that will include conflict resolution, social skills, coping skills, and college and career just to name a few. These areas and more will allow your students to be successful in their friendships and education and I am looking forward to teaching them these skills. I also would like our families to know that I am available to all families for support and help with areas that they may be struggling with. I also would like to take a moment to share a little about myself as well. I have a Masters degree in school counseling and also in Psychology. I have been working as a school counselor for 3 years now and prior to that I spent 8 years working with kids in various settings including mental health and public education. I have spent time being trained in autism specific training, and also in crisis and behavioral management training. I moved here to Albuquerque from Colorado in 2019 and absolutely love the work I get to do with your students daily. My office hours are 7:30AM to 2:30PM Monday through Friday.
