Start Of Year Newsletter To Families
Welcome back Kit Carson families,
We are so excited to see our wonderful students back on campus either this Wednesday, August 4th (1st – 5th) or on Friday, August 6th (PreK & Kinder). All the staff at Kit Carson have worked hard to get the school ready, classrooms ready and the curriculum for this year prepared and ready to begin on the first day. Teachers are ready to help students learn all that is needed for the next grade level.
Teachers and EAs started back at school on July 28th, and have been attending professional development to increase their understanding of how to help your child. The campus is clean and our custodians made sure they have followed all CDC safe practices.
As you all know, the mask requirements are still in effect. Students are to wear their masks indoors but can have them off outdoors. This will mostly be visible at recess. We do have extra masks on campus if a student forgets.
Pick up and drop off will be slightly different from last school year. All portable classes will have a pick up and drop off at the parent parking lot. This includes all fifth graders; this is located on the east side of the roundabout. The staff parking lot will be for Pre-K and Kinder students only. All other students will use the roundabout for pick up and drop off.
- There are no parents/guardians allowed on campus.
- If your child is sick, do not send them to school! Anyone with any covid symptoms will be sent home!
The morning of the 4th we will have students being directed to the cafeteria where they will eat breakfast. After breakfast, their teachers will escort them to their classrooms. No child will be left alone to fend for themselves.
Parents can drop off as early as 7:35. We will have someone to be in the cafeteria. Rio Grande Educational Collaborative (RGEC) will be offering after school programs. Call for more information at 505-873-6035 or visit their website.
I will be sending more information out soon.
If you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact me at 505-877-2724 extension 52202.
Thanks parents for entrusting your children with us.
