Welcome back Kit Carson families,

I hope you all had a wonderful summer break and enjoyed your children being home with you for the short break we had. We are looking forward with enthusiasm to the new school year.

We have many changes this school year. Kit Carson, along with every APS school, will continue to follow the District and Board's goals this year. We are still focusing on Goal 1 and Goal 4. We will be working on Units of Study in Math and Reading using our I-Ready math curriculum as well as a new adopted ELA curriculum SAAVAS.

A big change is our school hours! Our new school hours are: K-5th 9:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Pre-K 9:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Your child will be considered late if they arrive after 9:15 a.m. Breakfast will start at 9 a.m.

RGEC will be providing before school and after school care. Before school drop off will be as early as 6:45 a.m. Fees are $79 weekly, $28 drop in. Need more information on RGEC? Contact them at (505) 873-6035.

After school parents must pick up by 6 p.m. Fees are $38 weekly, $18 drop-in, $33 early release drop-in. Snack is included.

If you are using the parent parking, the gate that was used last year will be locked. If students are dropped off at parent parking or parent is walking a child, everyone will have to use the roundabout gate. Parents will not be allowed on campus fr safety issues during pick-up/drop-off time. Parents will be allowed on campus for all school events and during parent teacher conferences.

For the first day of school, parents will be able to accompany their children to their classroom between 9:15 a.m. - 10 a.m. All families will need to be off campus so the teachers can start the first day.

We do not have a uniform policy this school year!
